Volkswagen Italdesign at Geneva Motor Show 2011

Italdesign Giugiaro has prepared for the Geneva Motor Show 2011 two concepts that marks the integration of the well known Italian design studio in the Volkswagen Group.

The names of these Italdesign Volkswagen concepts are not known for now, why we have not heard from them is obvious, namely that they wanted to become an attraction in Geneva. Well, as often happens in the auto industry, a series of pictures online concepts Volkswagen Italdesign has elapsed, and we present to you:)

Volkswagen introduced a new concept car with a consumption of under one liter/100km

Volkswagen introduced the XL1 hybrid concept car at the auto show in Qatar, shorter than a Polo car – but very low – able to consume 0.9 liters per 100 km. The car has a diesel engine of 48 hp and 27 hp electric one and is third in the series concept cars consuming a liter/100 km. Such a concept was first brought in 2002 and second in 2009. XL1 is not destined for production, but it is a clear sign that the technology will be used for economic versions of Volkswagens.

XL1 is 3.88 meters long, being shorter than a Polo, but ground clearance is lower than a Lamborghini. The concept has a 48 horsepower diesel engine and an electric 20 kW (27 hp) that are extremely effective as mixt consumption: 0.9 litres/100 km.

Volkswagen XL1 Concept

German car manufacturer presented the details and pictures of the new Volkswagen XL1, a concept to be unveiled tomorrow at the Qatar International Auto Show.

Volkswagen XL1 concept car is part of the strategy with 1 liter engine and underbody aerodynamics very futuristic and there is a plug-in hybrid propulsion consists of a two-cylinder TDI engine that produces 48 horsepower (35 kw) and an electric motor that adds 27 horsepower (20 kW) and comes connected to a lithium-ion battery.

Mitsubishi will launch a plug-in hybrid SUV in 2013

Mitsubishi will launch a SUV in 2013 with plug-in hybrid technology. The model will be the series version of PX-MiEV concept, exposed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2009, said Yoshikazu Nakamura, in an interview for Automotive News. The hybrid SUV proposed by the Japanese house will measure approximately 450cm in length and will have AWD.

The model will be powered by a 1.6 liter gasoline engine combined with two electric engines. PX-MiEV series version will only run 50 km with electric units. The car will be sold in countries such as China, India and Brazil. Thereafter, the hybrid technology will debut on next-generation of Mitsubishi Lancer.

Nissan has unveiled a series of preliminary information on the new concept ‘New Mobility Concept’ which is their proposal for an electric vehicle.

NISSAN New Mobility Concept is characterized by four distinct aspects: it is innovative with a configuration with two seats, according to various needs and occasions, it is easy to handle and parked thanks to compact design, offers a high degree of safety is having an eco system electric propulsion.

Honda is preparing a new platform and a hybrid electric concept

Honda said it will provide a platform for a plug-in hybrid and electric concept, at the Los Angeles Auto Show. These two updates will define the future plans of the Japanese auto manufacturer.

The launch of the plug-in hybrid, Honda recovers from the lost years in a row, it has not paid too much credit to this technology. During this period, other automakers have evolved in this direction, and Honda will have to keep up.

Audi A2 2013 details

Another news about new models refers to the Audi’s intention to launch a successor to the Audi A2 in 2013.

It seems that the initial version of Audi A2 2013 will be a purely electric, it will have 60 horsepower and a range of 100 km. Subsequently, the model range will increase by introducing more engine options which include diesel and gasoline. Most likely, these engines will include new 1.0-liter FSI engine that develops 60 horsepower, 1.0-liter TFSI engine with 75 horsepower 1.2-liter diesel engine developing 75 horsepower.
