10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Jaguar E-type Series 1
This is the 9th car from “10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die” series. Undoubtedly one of the most iconic cars around, Enzo Ferrari declared upon its release that the Jagura E-type was the most beautiful car ever built.
On sale between 1961 and 1968, the Jaguar Series 1 E-type is today one of the most sought after classic cars in the world. Its charm and character make it stand out from the crowd. There were 3 series of the E-type built between 1961 and 1975 but it is the Series 1 that is best regarded.
10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Koenigsegg CCX
Manufactured in Sweden, the Koenigsegg CCX is a mid-engined roadster which is capable of 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and 0-124mph in 9.8 seconds. It was first unveiled in 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show and has gone on to establish itself alongside many of the world’s greatest supercars.
The 4.7L twin-supercharged V8 was put to the test in 2008 when the vehicle was matched against the Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR 722 Edition, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640, the Porsche 997 GT2, the Alpina B6 S and the Corvette Z06 in a race from 0-186mph.
10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Ariel Atom
Here is the sixth car from the “10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die” series. We hope you like it. Often described as a road-legal go-kart, the Ariel Atom is one of the purest driving experiences you can have. What it lacks in luxury (there isn’t a roof or doors!) it more than makes up for in insane acceleration and amazing handling.
Made by the Ariel Motor company in Somerset, England, the Atom is a featherweight vehicle that uses a 2.0L, 300 horse power Honda Civic engine to propel itself from 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds.
10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing
This is the 7th car from this series – 10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die. First introduced in 1954 at the New York Auto Show, the 300SL was the fastest production car of its generation. There were a number of different versions available of this car between 1955 and 1963 but the most famous version is undoubtedly the 300SL Gullwing which was available between 1955 and 1957.
Its defining feature was the gull-wing doors but the 300SL was also revolutionary because it was the first production car to use fuel injection. This along with super light tubular frame of the car helped make the car the fastest in its day.
10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Ferrari 250 GTO
Here is the 5th car from the series “10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die“. This list was sure to feature a Ferrari but the choice of which Ferrari to choose was a difficult one.
Some of the greatest cars ever produced have come from this famous Italian manufacturer and they have consistently created great cars for over 60 years, making choosing only one of their models a tricky task. Stand out candidates included the Daytona, the F40 and the more recent Enzo but for its looks alone it had to be the 250 GTO.
10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Porsche 911 GT2 RS
This is the 4th car from “10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die” series. The Porsche 911 range is somewhat of a dynasty and whilst the 911 was an obvious choice for the list, choosing a particular model was not.
Since being introduced back in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development and each model seems to get better and better. With this in mind, the model that has made the list is the 911 GT2 RS. The 911 GT2 RS is still yet to be officially released but that hasn’t stopped buyers snapping them up with all 500 produced already being sold.
10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die – Aston Martin DB5
Here is the 3rd car from “10 cars that car enthusiasts dream of driving before they die” series. Aston Martin has made some amazing cars over the years and the DB5 is no exception. Having established itself as a manufacturer of quality British hand-built cars, Aston Martin were already flying when they released the DB5 back in 1963.
However, when the DB5 was chosen to appear in the 1964 film Goldfinger, Aston Martin’s suddenly became even more glamorous and the DB5 in particular became somewhat of an icon. Put simply, if it was good enough for James Bond, it was good enough for everyone else! The DB5 is stylish but still quick, doing 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds which certainly isn’t sluggish.
