Japanese car manufacturer announced the new model will come with Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE to race 24 Hours of Le Mans, and not as a competitor but as a participant in the Le Mans event into the Future.

Le Mans Into the Future is a race in which participants, such as Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE, using alternative propulsion electric, hybrid, natural gas or hydrogen. Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE Coupe comes equipped with a propeller that works with both gasoline and hydrogen.

For now, the new Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE is available for rent in Japan and Norway.

Mazda is the first and only participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans to win the competition in 1991 with a rotary engine vehicle, namely an RX-8 driven by Yojiro Terada.
