Infiniti ETHEREA

Infiniti has officially announced the name of luxury compact concept that will debut at the 81 edition of the Geneva Auto Show.

Based on the teaser pictures published by the Japanese auto manufacturer a few days ago, I speculated that his name will be ETHERIA because this was the name that appears in the pictures. We do not know if the manufacturer changed his mind or made a mistake, but the real name is Infiniti ETHERIA.

Infiniti ETHERIA is a step ahead in terms of design and is targeted to younger customers who wants a new kind of luxury.

New Infiniti with Mercedes motor

The new Infiniti will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show will be equipped with a 1.8 CGI engine from Mercedes.

New Infiniti compact will be a three-door hatchback, which could be adopted under the hood, the world premiere, a Mercedes engine. The coupe, the size of a Mercedes CLC, but totally inspired  Infiniti Essence concept will be developed on a platform of new generation front-wheel drive, which will rise on future Renault Megane.

Infiniti’s luxury electric vehicle gets official sketch

Infiniti has electric plans of its own to show off, and you can kind of make them out in the windswept rendering above. An electric vehicle from Nissan’s luxury arm will arrive in 2013, and be “a stylish, high performance five-seat luxury vehicle with zero emissions technology.” Of course, what so many would really like is to have that car be a five-seat electric Essence with “Inspired Performance,” but you can quit your dreaming.

Your appetizer for the eventual electric vehicle will be the M35 hybrid, which you’ll be able to feast on at the LA Auto Show in November. There’s a press release with more info after the jump and a gallery of photos below. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Infiniti IPL G Convertible Concept to debut in Paris

The first Infiniti Performance Line offering was unveiled at Pebble Beach last month in the form of the IPL G37 Coupe. The 348-horsepower G hardtop wears a factory-designed bodykit and came with engine and chassis tweaks to make things slightly firmer and faster. It goes on sale in December.

This week, its droptop brother will arrive at the Paris Motor Show. Infiniti hasn’t announced power output, but we expect the IPL G Convertible Concept will probably be a shade less muscular than the coupe, as is the case with the non-IPL models. The automaker hasn’t given away any hint of pricing, either, but VP Ben Poore did say “IPL promises unique driving attributes from other Infiniti models, without adding stratospheric prices,” if that’s any consolation. Stay tuned for complete details later in the week
