Citroen has today revealed information and official photos relating to the new DS3 Racing, the sportiest model in the range of French premium subcompact. Hot-hatch is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter and 200 horsepower.

New DS3 Racing is the fruit of labor Racing Citroën engineers, who took some version of DS3 and shaped a style which won Division competition by Sebastien Loeb an impressive series of 6 world titles in WRC.

The most important and awaited information refers to DS3 Racing’s diesel engine, which is a 1.6 THP turbo. Developed by PSA-Peugeot Citroen in collaboration with BMW, the unit produces 200 horsepower at 5800 rpm (and not 218 as rumored), compared to the 156′s version number, and 275 Nm of torque, offered in 2500 and 4000 rpm, 35 Nm more than the model derived. Expressed in figures, DS3 Racing is able to sprint from 0-100 km / h in just 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 231 km / h.

Specifications are similar to those of major rivals, Renault Clio RS and Mini Cooper S, but DS3 Racing has some advantages that I recommend. These are the new BOS suspension of high hardness and a brake system with 328 mm ventilated discs front and rear 249 mm, supplied by Citroen Racing. Ground clearance was lowered by 15 mm, while the direction was set for maximum precision, adapted to the car’s sporting temperament.
