Buick prepares a sports coupe
Buick and Chevrolet design director, John Cafaro, said it was hired by General Motors to draw a sports coupe that will debut more than three years. Future models could be sold under the Buick logo and will target a younger clientele.
A recent study shows that the average age of Buick customers is 70 years, a big problem for American brand, which in an attempt to escape the heavy burden that has built a number of interesting sites concept car.
The most notable appearances were Riviera Concept (photo), presented in 2007 at Shanghai, and Regal GS Concept, which debuted earlier this year in Detroit, announcing future performance sedan series, actually the American version of Opel Insignia OPC .

GM will begin production of Buick Regal in the first quarter of 2011
GM’s Canadian subsidiary confirmed that Buick Regal’s production plant in Ontario will begin in the first quarter of next year, the news arrived almost as a manna for workers in Maple Leaf Country: to support the manufacturing process of the sedan “The General” will recall the work of 700 people.

Buick Regal GS Concept
While the European market has the Opel Insignia, we here in the U.S. have the Buick Regal. And just like they have the in house high performance version known as the OPC, we will be seeing something very similar with the Buick Regal GS concept that will debut next week at the Detroit Auto Show. The last Regal worth noting was the Regal T type, a toned down version of the Grand National with a turbocharged six cylinder under the hood. The lat time that Buick built a GS it was powered by a 3.8 Liter supercharged V6 in the late ’90s.
However the times they are a changing and consumers are asking for fuel economy along with their performance. The Regal GS Concept is powered by a 2.0 Liter Ecotec turbo four with direct injection technology delivering a total of 255 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque, quite a bit more then before, mated to a six speed manual transmission sending power to an adaptive all wheel drive system. This means that the Regal GS is a sport sedan that can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6 seconds. All capped off with a set of exotic Brembo brake calipers. All together the Buick Regal GS is a perfect example of the American automaker’s commitment to high performance.
