It’s official: Porsche Cajun will appear soon
After a period of two years when rumors have circulated concerning a SUV Porsche placed under Cayenne, behold officials give green light for the future Porsche Cajun. According to AutoExpress, those from Porsche, at their last board meeting has been confirmed officially that the German brand will build in the near future a smaller SUV than the Porsche Cayenne, called Porsche Cajun.
In other words, Porsche will offer very soon, a pertinent response given to the originaly Range Rover Evoque, which now can be considered the first SUV coupe on the market. As expected, Porsche Cajun technical platform will be shared with the next Audi Q5 generation, being a completely new MLB-Evo, which will allow small Cajun to benefit of a hybrid version.

Of course, diesel engines will be missing from the menu, but no more than 300 hp versions on petrol will be allowed. The new Porsche Cajun is expected in 2014, and the base price is 40,000 euros. Porsche officials hoped that the new Cajun will contribute to the company goal, to surpass sales of 150,000 units a year – which would mean that the Volkswagen Group will be closer to World Number One objective.
Until the launch of the new Porsche Cajun, we’ll see if Range Rover Evoque will manage to attract enough attention to make interesting this segment, of the compact SUVs.
