Ford launches Focus Coupe in 2012

Ford is preparing a new offensive for Volkswagen Scirocco by launching a coupe version of the Focus hatchback model, the series having the debut in 2012. Based on the new Focus generation, the model in the prototype form will make its appearance at the Auto Show in Detroit in 2011. Like the recent Fiesta and Focus models, this reinterpretation of the famous Capri will be a global model.

Ford Focus Coupe will continue the way went by the Focus ST, reiterating elements found on the legendary Capri, although it will be slightly longer, wider and lower, these details contributing to the sporty look. So, the new model will have old-school design lines, such as the curved back from Capri, and more modern details (LED lamp units, alloy wheels).

The coupe will keep front-wheel drive platform from Focus ST and it will be powered by the same 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine that produces 247 horsepower. Sprint from 0-100 km/h will be done in about six seconds and top speed is 250 km/h. The production version will not be released sooner than 2012.
